Jiangsu Sutong Yangtze River bridge project is a full-length 32.4km, and its main span span is 1088m, which is the largest span cable-stayed bridge in the world. The main tower is as high as 300 meters, and the two main tower foundations are 131 long 120m diameter 2.5m/2.8m variable cross-section pile group foundation. The longest stay cable is 577m, which has created the world record in the history of bridge construction. The completion of the construction of the Sutong Bridge is an important symbol of China's great power from a large bridge to a bridge. The bridge won the first prize of national science and technology progress award, national excellent engineering design award, China Civil Engineering Award, Zhan Tianyou International Bridge Conference (IBC) "George Richardson prize", American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) "outstanding civil engineering achievement award", the International Federation of Consulting Engineers (FIDIC) "one hundred years of outstanding civil engineering award" (Global 10) etc.. The project was built in June 2003 and opened in June 2008.
