In March 2007, CCCC Highway Consultants Co., Ltd. prepared to construct the Bridge Technology Center in order to cultivate high-quality talents on bridge engineering, meet the demand on the commercialization of research findings and shape the core technology of the enterprise. The Center officially came into being in January 2008. As an organization directly under the Company, the Center takes the tenet of “set up and develop a sound brand image to improve international competitiveness”, particularly moving toward software R&D, new structure and standards and specifications and founding three professional research offices—Bridge Numerical Simulation, Bridge Structure and Standards and specifications.

Organizational Frame

The Bridge Technology Center is put under the direct leadership of Chairman and GM of the Company—Zhang Xigang, where Xu Guoping, the deputy GM and General Engineer, serves as the executive deputy director and Meng Fanchao, the deputy GM and National Survey & Design Master takes charge of the Chief Specialist. An academic echelon is formed with veteran experts as consultants, young and middle age experts as academic pacesetters and young doctors and masters as backbones.

1. Bridge Numerical Simulation Research Office
Bridge Numerical Simulation Research Office focuses on numerical methods and software research on complex structure analysis and design of long bridges, as well as disaster prevention such as wind resistance, earthquake resistance, ship collision resistance and coupled load resistance.
2. Bridge Structure Research Office
Bridge Structure Research Office specializes in research on key structural system of long bridges, fine analysis and design of local structure and disaster prevention and reduction of structure. At present, the Office enjoys its own advantage in researches on steel structural system of long bridges, combinedsystem bridge structure, bridge life-cycle design and bridge safety risk assessment.
3. Standards and specifications Research Office
Bridge Design Standards and specifications follow collectively embody design thoughts, concept, methods and means. CCCC Highway Consultants Co., Ltd. as the most important compiler of domestic road and bridge industrial specifications has successively organized the Standards and specifications Research Office to compile a large number of standards and specifications in this industry.

Research Team

At present, the Bridge Technology Center owns 5 academic pacesetters, 2 managers, 3 directors, 6 veteran experts, 22 fulltime researchers (including 10 doctors and 12masters) and also recruits 18 part-time researchers and 20 visiting senior experts. Depending on research projects from the Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Transport and China Communications Construction Company LTD., the Center positively boosts talent building by inviting visiting scholars and combining production, academy and research.
